Leadership and Governance
The Self-Care Multi-Sectoral Steering Committee (SC-MSSC) is established to oversee, guide, and coordinate the implementation of self-care initiatives across various sectors, aiming to promote health and well-being among diverse populations/communities.
Self-Care Multi-Sectoral Steering Committee (SC-MSSC) scope:
- Developing strategies and action plans to integrate self-care interventions across relevant sectors, including healthcare, education, technology, and public health.
- Identifying key stakeholders and fostering partnerships to support the implementation of self-care programs.
- Monitoring progress, evaluating outcomes, and recommending adjustments to ensure the effectiveness and sustainability of self-care initiatives.
- Guiding policy development, resource allocation, and capacity-building efforts related to self-care.
- Facilitating knowledge exchange, best practice sharing, and collaboration among stakeholders involved in self-care promotion.
Leadership of the Self-Care Multi-Sectoral Steering Committee (SC-MSSC)
The Self-Care Multi-Sectoral Steering Committee (SC-MSSC) is led by Dr. Charles Olaro Ministry of Health as the Chairperson. and Uganda Healthcare Federation serving as the Secretariat. The nominated/appointed person will serve in a personal capacity, not as a representative of their sector/employing organization.
Roles & Responsibilities of the Co-chairs
The Chair and the Co-chair will be responsible for:
- Preparation and chairing of SC-MSSC meetings.
- The Chairperson shall preside over meetings and facilitate discussions.
- Review of meeting minutes.
- Representation of SC-MSSC to all other meetings/engagements.
- Take part in quarterly coordination meetings with other Technical Working Groups to promote strategic linkages and collaboration to advance the self-care agenda.
Secretariat
The Self-Care Multi-Sectoral Steering Committee (SC-MSSC) Secretariat is the Uganda HealthCare Federation (UHF) and is responsible for the day-to-day administration of the SC-MSSC.
Roles and responsibilities of the Secretariat:
- Coordination and organization of the Working Group meetings in collaboration with the Co-chairs.
- Preparing the meeting agendas.
- Preparation and dissemination of proceedings/meeting notes and/or minutes to attendees and the wider membership as appropriate.
- Maintenance of the database of members of the Working Group and the associated distribution mailing lists.
- Maintenance of the self-care website.
- Distributing information and publications of interest to the members of the Self-Care Multi-Sectoral Steering Committee (SC-MSSC) through the Working Group distribution mailing list.
- Coordinate SC-MSSC fund mobilization efforts in collaboration with the Co-chairs.
- In case of unavailability of the Co-chairs, representation of the Self-Care Multi-Sectoral Steering Committee (SC-MSSC) in other meetings.
- Other supporting functions as appropriate.
